About UnbiasedSolar

We built the site we wished existed when we were shopping for solar: one that does the math honestly, shows its work, and isn't trying to sell you anything.

What we believe

• Solar is a good deal for many homes, and a bad one for many others. The answer depends on your rates, roof, export rules, price and plans, and it should be allowed to be "no."
• Assumptions should be visible. Every default in our calculator is shown and adjustable, and our methodology explains all of them.
• Public data beats sales estimates. We use federal production models, utility and EIA data, installation records and published research.
• Homeowners deserve protection from bad sales practices. Our red flags and quote checker exist because too many people sign contracts they don't understand.

Independence

We don't take money from the solar industry. Read exactly how we make money.

Corrections

Policies, prices and companies change quickly. If you spot something wrong or out of date, email hello@unbiasedsolar.com. We fix errors quickly and note significant changes in our changelog.
