Accessibility
Everyone deserves an honest answer about solar. We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA across the site.
What we do
- Semantic HTML with landmarks, headings in order, and a skip link to the main content.
- Every form field has a visible label and hints; errors are announced and described in text.
- All tools work with a keyboard, with a clearly visible focus outline. Collapsible sections use native controls.
- Every chart has a text summary and a "Show as a table" option. Color is never the only way information is shown.
- Text and controls meet AA contrast in both light and dark modes. The body font, Atkinson Hyperlegible, was designed for readers with low vision.
- Results update in live regions so screen readers announce changes.
- Motion is minimal and respects your "reduce motion" setting. Pages reflow to 320 pixels wide and support zoom to 400%.
Known issues
Some large data tables are wide and scroll horizontally on small screens; they're keyboard-scrollable and labeled. Building-outline previews in the roof tool are decorative; the same information is given in text.
