The short version
No accounts. No contact forms that feed sales lists. No selling or sharing of personal data. Your calculator inputs and quotes stay in your browser.
What happens when you use the calculator
- Your address is sent to our server only to look up public data: the U.S. Census Bureau Geocoder (location), OpenStreetMap (building outline) and the National Laboratory of the Rockies' PVWatts and utility services (production). We don't store addresses in a database. Our hosting provider may cache these public-data responses, and its logs may briefly contain request details.
- Your inputs (bill, roof, quotes) are saved in your browser's local storage so they're there when you come back. Clear your browser data to remove them.
- Uploaded usage files are read in your browser and never uploaded.
- Share links encode your inputs in the link itself. Anyone with the link can see them, so share carefully.
Analytics
We use Numative, a privacy-focused analytics service, to count page views and understand which pages help people. We don't use advertising trackers or sell analytics data.
Affiliate links
Amazon affiliate links take you to Amazon, which has its own privacy policy and may use cookies to attribute purchases.
If you email us, we use your message only to reply and don't add you to any list.
Children
This site is intended for adults making household decisions and doesn't knowingly collect information from children.
