Maxeon (formerly SunPower panels)
Status: SEVERE DISTRESS. CBP has detained Mexican-assembled Maxeon 3/6 residential modules since July 2024 under UFLPA, and its CIT case had stalled as of late 2025. Reported under judicial management in Singapore from April 2026, with Nasdaq trading suspended May 2026. Its US exclusivity deal ended when SunPower Corp. went bankrupt (Aug 2024).
- Company
- Singapore (majority owned by TCL Zhonghuan, China)
- U.S. manufacturing
- No U.S. module assembly (Planned US factory (Albuquerque, NM) paused)
- Main products
- Maxeon 7 / Maxeon 6 AC (IBC): 420-445 W, 22.5-24.1%, N-type IBC back-contact (Maxeon)
- Maxeon 3: 400-430 W, 22.6-22.7%, N-type IBC

- product years: 40; performance years: 40; end of warranty pct: 88.3% at yr 40 (Maxeon 7/6/3); annual degradation pct: 0.25%/yr; labor coverage: Historically included (40-yr) in specific regions/installer programs. Under judicial management, what it is worth is uncertain.
- PVEL scorecard
- Not a 2026 Top Performer. Not on the 2026 list
- Price tier
- premium
- Risks to weigh
- Effectively unavailable in the US
- A 40-year warranty from a company in court-supervised restructuring is of doubtful value
- Earlier offer of warranty support to SunPower customers may not survive
Strong technology record (low degradation, IBC), but don't recommend for new US installs in 2026. Existing owners should keep their serial numbers and warranty documents. The 'SunPower' brand in the US now belongs to Complete Solaria (bought the brand in 2024 bankruptcy) and is not Maxeon.
